THE DESTRUCTION OF JUDAH AND JERUSALEM.
"RAISE THE SIGNAL The reason for this Divine warning is that there is not even one man in Jerusalem who acts justly or seeks the truth for Jehovah to forgive them and spare the city. Even if any one of them were to swear by the life of the Lord, they would be perjuring themselves ! (5:1,2 NEB). Indeed, so faithless are Israel and Judah that: "They have denied the Lord, saying, 'He does not exist. No evil shall come upon us; we shall never see sword or famine. The prophets will prove mere wind, the word not in them.'" (5:12,13 NEB). Men of Judah and Jerusalem have rejected the following words of the Lord Jehovah: "Break up your fallow ground, do not sow among thorns, (1) circumcise yourselves to the service of the Lord, circumcise your hearts, men of Judah and dwellers in Jerusalem, lest the fire of my fury blaze up and burn unquenched, because of your evil doings." (Jer 4:3,4 NEB. Micah 7:4. (1) See Page 8/9/83A).
That is why it is the judicial decision of
Jehovah to render to them according to their dealings: "Your way and your
dealings
Jehovah intends to desolate unfaithful Judah and
Jerusalem until their cities are laid waste and unpeopled: "Raise the signal Because The Christ Michael is the "Lion" of Judah, and was The Christ Jesus while on earth, he was authorized to make the following prophecy: "But when you see Jerusalem encircled by armies, then you may be sure that her destruction is near. Then those who are in Judea must take to the hills; those who are in the city itself must leave it, and those who are out in the country must not enter; because this is the time of retribution, ("the days of the Divine vengeance". Moffatt) when all that stands written is to be fulfilled. Alas for women who are with child in those days, or have children at the breast! For there will be great distress in the land and a terrible Judgement upon this people. They will fall at the sword's point; they will be carried captive into all countries; and Jerusalem will be trampled down by foreigners until their day has run its course." (Luke 21:20-24 NEB).
