(V.5) |
The
"garland of beauty" is the Spirit of justice from God manifest in
the remaining ones of His people after "flooding waters" have
swept away the lies and the "drunkards of Ephraim".
(28:18,19). |
(V.6) |
The Spirit of justice sustains
faithful ones, giving
them courage to
reject
apostate teachings. |
(V.7) |
Apostate priests and false prophets
in the "land" have become intoxicated with
the
glory
they
receive from "intense lovers"
of their apostate teachings. Because they refuse to accept discipline from
Jehovah, they do not receive His spiritual teachings for their correction, and
so in spiritual "seeing" they have gone astray. The prophesied
"wine" of the "true vine" (The
Christ) are stronger
teachings revealed in the "time of the end". (John 2:10). With no spiritual
"seeing" apostates are spiritually blind. |
(V.8) |
The apostate teachings of the sect
falsely calling themselves Jehovah's Witnesses are likened to "filthy vomit" that have interfered with the
revealing of the true life-giving teachings of God in the "time of the end".
Because this sect has applied all God-given disciplines to the "dogs"
of Christendom, there is no place among them that is not without the
"filthy vomit" of their apostasy.
(Rev 22:15). |
(V.9,10) |
In such appalling circumstances
created by the "rulers of this people"
occupying the "land", how could a prophet of Jehovah successfully instruct
newly-converted "babes" in Christ for them to learn how to live
within the spiritual boundaries of God prescribed by His "measuring lines"?
(See NEB). |
(V.11,12) |
Those Jehovah chooses will reiterate
His commands and "measuring lines"
as often and as robustly as is necessary to prevent any return to apostasy in
His spiritual "land". They
are the accurate repetition of teachings from God which give rest to those weary
in spirit. They are not false prophecies or "sniffing" at the Word
of God, but are spiritual instructions from God through which people may find
rest in a righteous way of life as they subject themselves to Him. (Mal 1:13). |
(V.13-16) |
"Rulers
of this people" who refuse to listen,
and take refuge in lies and falsehood,
say in their hearts: "We have concluded a covenant with Death".
This means that at their deaths they believe they will have concluded the
requirements of the "new covenant"! (Heb 9:17).
But this belief that they will be concealed in the day of God's
anger
will be dissolved, for Christ's teachings are
the
sure foundation laid in Zion that will ensnare all those whose apostate
teachings fall outside the dimensions of the House of God. (See Page
826). Those exercising
true faith in God, both in word and deed, have no reason to fear. |
(V.17-19) |
The Spirit "hail" of God is stored up for His day of fight and war.
Jehovah will use the Spirit "hail" of His Judgement against
enemies engaging in spiritual warring against Him. (Job 38:22,23). This "hail"
will sweep away their refuge of lies, and the "waters" of His Word
will flood out the places of their concealment. These are Spirit denunciations
of their apostasy during His "day" for exposing them. It will come upon them
suddenly and will pass through the spirits of these liars. Such tidings
will
bring nothing but dismay and
quaking in their spirits. But faithful
anointed sons of God will already have been disciplined in spirit
and received spiritual
instruction for public service. They will already have had any spiritual
uncleanness made manifest to them
and removed. |
(V.20) |
The
"couch" of their falsehood proves too short for
apostates
to rest upon. Their "blanket"
of interwoven apostate
teachings, their "lying signs" and "portents",
will
not provide cover for them. (2 Thess 2:9). |
(V.21-29) |
Jehovah reveals His unusual
spiritual work of "sowing" His Spirit
"seed" and gathering, correcting, reaping, and refining
His Spirit anointed sons
without crushing them. |
