A BAD WIFE.

AND THE OPTIONS FOR HUSBANDS AND WIVES.

FOR BELIEVERS IN THE LAW OF GOD:
"Do not leave a leaky cistern to drip or allow a bad wife to say what she likes.  If she does not accept your control...  send her away."
 (Ecclesiasticus 25:25,26 NEB).

How could a Christian husband or a Christian wife be the salvation of their spouse before the Lord by their example, if  the unbelieving spouse continually behaves badly without proper self control? (1 Cor 7:14). Under such circumstances, sanctification would not be taking place. Such marriages fall outside the Law of God and are not at peace from the standpoint of God. As for their children, they would probably grow up like their parents.

Paul, The Christ's apostle to the nations said this: "But if the unbelieving one proceeds to depart, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not in servitude under such circumstances, but God has called you to peace."  (1 Cor 7:15).

Accordingly, if an unbelieving wife does not accept the proper control of her believing husband, she will have shown it by saying what she likes. In such disorderly marriages, the unbelieving wife (or husband) has thereby proceeded to depart. Being placed in the servitude of such circumstances, a "brother" or "sister" in the faith has other options.  He or she can leave, or send their partner away. There is an allowance for permanent separation.  But married persons who separate cannot remarry.  (1 Cor 7:10,11).

Only on the grounds of fornication can a certificate of divorce be issued. (Matt 5:31,32).  For: "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, and if ever a woman, after divorcing her husband, marries another, she commits adultery." (Mark 10:11,12). In such cases, their sexual relations would be deemed fornication.  Only after the death of one's spouse can remarriage take place.  (1 Cor 7:39).

Marriage is for the purpose of procreation, of becoming "one flesh" in the creation of a child or children.  (Eph 5:31).
