ACCORDING
TO EVIL DISPOSITIONS OF THE PAST,
WHAT ARE
THE
SYMBOLIC
MEANINGS
OF
GOG?
To be able to identify the
activities of Gog's servants in these last days, we must look at the
multinational force of Gog from a spiritual point of view, derived from the
names and past activities of Gog's people. The following are some of the
symbolic meanings of Ezekiel chapter 38 and 39:
Gog: |
The
head chieftain satan exercising authority over all those with evil dispositions.
(38:2,3). |
Gog of Ma'gog: |
'House, of a house',
or according to Augustine's description, Gog: 'a roof', Ma'gog:
'from the roof'. Police and military forces established with a
common purpose to guard satan's political systems, to keep them in office
over the common people, to attack beloved people of God wherever they may be
found, ending with a final attack. Ma'gog is an artificial form
equivalent to
'home of Gog'. Symbolically "of the remotest parts of the
north" the 'home of Gog' is inhabited by those with
warring natures against the Kingdom Rule of God and His people. (38:6). |
Gog's chieftains today: |
Those
with the dispositions of "Rosh", "Meshech" and
"Tubal". Enforcers of the political will of Gog. Chieftains of
multinational police and military forces of Gog, and those congregated alongside
them. They are to be buried in the "Valley of Gog's Crowd".
(38:7. 39:15). |
Gog's number 666: |
The
number of years of the political rule of Gog through members selected by him
(satan). In consequence of the "hooks" in the "jaws"
of the warring forces of Gog, this number was 'turned around' by
God to 999 their power reduced by a state of emergency.
(38:4). |
Gog's location: |
Within
demonically inspired warring people worldwide. (39:6. 38:4-7). |
Gog's intention: |
To
"think up an injurious scheme" and attack spiritual people
gathered by God "those having no disturbance, dwelling in security". (38:10-12). |
Gog attacks: |
People
of God living on a high spiritual plain: "Mountains of Israel".
(39:4). |
Gog's destiny: |
To
be summoned against the spiritual lives of righteous ones for the Judgement of God. |
Gog's "Rosh": |
('Prince
of the head'). A barbarous people. (See 38:1-9
NEB). |
Gog's "Meshech": |
('Drawing
out, or skinning'). War-like dispositions. Aggressive people. |
Gog's "Tubal": |
('You
shall be brought'). A terror-causing people associated with Meshech. |
Gog's armoury: |
"Large
shield",
"buckler", "helmet" and "sword". (38:4,5). |
Gog in Persia,
Ethiopia and Put: |
Jehovah
will summon "universal terror" against Gog's crowd, bringing them
to Judgement in Iran/Iraq, Ethiopia and North Africa. (38:21-23
NEB. 38:5). |
Gog in "Israel": |
The
"quaking" in the
spiritual "soil of Israel" caused a tenth of those called to the
heavenly "City" of God to fall for having acted unfaithfully in
His service. (38:19) (See Rev 11:13). |
"On the mountains of Israel you
will fall, you and all your bands and the peoples that will be with you. To birds of prey, birds of every sort of wing, and the wild beasts of the field
I will give you for food."
(39:4). "This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, 'Are you the same
one of whom I spoke in the former days by the hand of My servants the prophets
of Israel, who were prophesying in those days
years
as to bringing you in upon them?... And I will call forth against him throughout
all My mountainous region a sword,' is the utterance of the Sovereign
Lord Jehovah. 'Against his own brother the sword of each one will come to be.'"
(38:17,21).
