THE MEANING OF: BINDING THE
"STRONG MAN" BEFORE This particular "house" of the "strong man" is a symbolic description of people who have evil spirits controlling their lives, so much so that even though they may be described as a "strong man" they are overwhelmed by demons of satan "ransacking the house". Such was the case of the "demon-possessed man, blind and dumb" brought before The Christ Jesus, who cured him "so that the dumb man spoke and saw." (Please read Matt 12:22-30). On being accused by the Pharisees that, "This fellow does not expel the demons except by means of Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons", Christ replied: "If satan expels satan, he has become divided against himself; how, then, will his kingdom stand?" "But if it is by means of God's Spirit that I expel the demons, the Kingdom of God has really overtaken you." (12:26 & 28). Expelling the demons and freeing people held bound under their "veil" of "darkness" can only be achieved by the Spirit of God. (Eph 2:1-5 NEB). We know that at a time appointed by Almighty God Jehovah, The Christ Michael will abyss satan that he might not mislead the nations for a thousand years. (Rev 20:1-3). After this period satan will be let loose for a little while to again seduce the nations. From this we learn that Jehovah actually uses satan's evil malevolence against people of God to allow them to prove their loyalty to Him under satanic test. At the end of the coming one thousand year period, spiritually refined ones of the "new earth" will be finally tested by the evil activities of satan and his demons, "Gog and Magog". Then satan and his demons will be hurled into their final place of eternal torment. (Rev 20:7-10).
The abyssing of satan and his
demons is a place of powerlessness and inactivity. When satan and his demons are
abyssed by The Christ Michael, people on earth who were once overwhelmed by evil
spirits of this satanic "darkness" and were outside the
congregation of God, will be freed of demons in both mind and spirit. Unless they are already corrupted to an irreconcilable extent, this will allow them to
come to know God without satanic opposition. The abyssing of satan and his
demons will take place just before Almighty God begins His Sovereign Rule over
mankind. (Rev 21:1 Since the first Adamic sin, and particularly since satan and his demons were ousted from heaven and hurled down to the vicinity of the earth, Almighty God has given leave for satan and his demons to persecute and distress mankind, but for a purpose. (Rev 12:7-9). It has required constant vigilance and spiritual effort for true Christians to keep within the spiritual boundaries of God. (Eph 6:11-13). But while persecution of beloved people of God has continued, there are those who, though formerly unrighteous, have been sanctified by the Spirit of God in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. From each generation, and by the Spirit of God, such ones have been spiritually taught, refined and tested to become members of His heavenly household. (1 Cor 6:9-11) (1 John 2:27). Those who live in the "new earth" under the Rule of God will not be persecuted by demons, for satan and his demons will have been abyssed. Sinners refusing to be spiritually refined in the "new earth" shall die as "accursed" ones. (Isaiah 65:17-20 RSV). But holy lives shall be rewarded with a long life of righteous creativity toward spirit perfection. By the Spirit of God people in the "new earth" will be free of the evil spirits that held them bound to sin and will have the opportunity to become reconciled to God. (2 Cor 5:20).
