"WHEN THAT DAY COMES":
THE FULFILMENT OF ISAIAH 19:1-25 (NEB).
WHY THE NILE OF EGYPT WILL DRY UP IN SACRIFICE
AS PART OF THE SIGNAL FROM GOD. (Isaiah 18:1-7).
EGYPT: AN EXAMPLE FOR MANY NATIONS.
Ultimately, the Will of Almighty
God in connection with the signal of His coming will result in a
blessing "upon Egypt My people, upon Assyria the
work of My hands, and upon Israel My possession"
"in the centre of the world". (19:25). To bring this about, our
invisible God has prophesied what He will do. It has begun!
The rivers of Ethiopia, the source of the river Nile, are drying up. Next, will
be the Nile itself. For Jehovah says: "I will set Egyptian against
Egyptian". (19:2). "Egypt's
spirit shall sink within her".
(19:3). The Lord will infuse into them "a spirit that warps their
judgement". (19:14). These events will cause the "idols of
Egypt"
to "quail before Him". (19:1). "When that day comes there shall be an
altar to the Lord in the heart of Egypt".
(19:19). This "altar" will be a spiritual one, that they may
"acknowledge the Lord and do Him service with sacrifice", "make
vows to Him and pay them", renouncing unclean spiritistic practices in
their obedience to God. (19:21).
The striking of Egypt with a
literal and spiritual drought, and the events that follow from this, will cause
Egyptians to realize the worthlessness of their false gods so that they turn to
Jehovah. Only when they appeal to Almighty God Jehovah against
their oppressors will He "send a deliverer to champion their cause"
(The Christ Michael), that He may rescue and heal them in spirit.
(19:19-22).
THE
SOURCE OF THE NILE AND THE FULFILMENT OF THE PROPHECY.
Northeast Africa, the
Sudan and Ethiopia, are the sources of the Nile and its Delta. But while the
Nile Delta occupies just 3% of the land of Egypt, 95% of the population live
there, around 45,000,000 people. Much of the African subcontinent is suffering
drought (to date almost three years). Ethiopia has suffered 10 years of drought,
with a death rate of 7,000 persons each month, and the death toll is rising.
Ethiopia (Nubians) and East Africa
(Sabaeans) will see both the confusion and the worthlessness of the false gods
of Egypt, and will come over to Mount Zion. (19:3. 18:7. 45:14,15
NEB).
They will worship the One who is giving incontrovertible evidence of His Godship:
Almighty God Jehovah. His drying up of the Nile will expose the
impotence of false gods and their creators: the oracle-mongers, counsellors
and chieftains, in "the day of (their) incurable pain".
(19:3. 19:11-15. 17:10,11 NEB).
"When that day comes",
the "altar" that Egyptians shall erect will be in their hearts.
(19:19 22). Fabricating excuses for the impotence of
their false gods while waiting for rain to replenish the Nile is futile, for Almighty God has given the order for it to be dried up. (11:15 NEB).
