THE SHADOW:  The widow "went and did according to Elijah's word; and she continued to eat, she together with him and her household, for days... And it came about after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick, and his sickness came to be so severe that there was no breath left in him." The woman blamed Elijah, saying: "What do I have to do with you, O man of the true God? You have come to me to bring my error to mind and to put my son to death."  (From 1 Kings 17:15-18).

THE REALITY:  Although given access to spiritual "food" during the spiritual "drought" in the "land", initially the wives of Spirit anointed men with the Spirit of Elijah are not disposed to be spiritually obedient to them. (17:18). However, the spiritual "sickness" of their sons becomes so severe that it threatens their very lives. (17:17).  Unless they are reconciled to their anointed fathers, and ultimately to their Heavenly Father, these sons will die in their trespasses. (See Eph 2:1-3 & Mal 4:5,6). That is why in her unreconciled state the widow says to Elijah: "You have come to me to bring my error to mind and to put my son to death."  (17:18). The "Little Scroll" calls her errors to mind.  (Rev 10:8-11).

THE SHADOW:  Elijah said to her: ""Give me your son." Then he took him from her bosom". Elijah then called upon Jehovah saying, ""O Jehovah my God, is it also upon the widow… that you must bring injury by putting her son to death?" And he proceeded to stretch himself upon the child three times and call to Jehovah and say: "O Jehovah my God, please, cause the soul of this child to come back within him." Finally Jehovah listened to Elijah's voice, so that the soul of the child came back within him and he came to life."  (From 17:19-22).

THE REALITY:  For spiritually "sick" sons of widows of anointed men with the Spirit of Elijah to be put to death, would cause grief and "bring injury" to the faith of their widows who turn to Jehovah. Pleading to Jehovah for the soul to come back within them can only be done through the spiritual work of sanctified Spirit anointed "temple" servants of God with Elijah's Spirit and power. This is so that "the heart of (their) sons" are turned "back toward (their) fathers" and so to their Heavenly Father. (Mal 4:5,6). No longer being children, the spiritual restoration and reconciliation of these sons to their anointed fathers deters them from returning to the comfort of "her bosom". The Spirit of Elijah must take these sons from "her bosom" to rescue them from the errors that caused this spiritual "sickness" in their sons. (17:19). That is why the widow says to Elijah: "Now, indeed, I do know that you are a man of God and that Jehovah's word in your mouth is true."  (17:24).

THE SHADOW:  Because of the continuing drought in the land, Ahab ordered Obadiah to search for green grass to preserve alive their horses and mules. Ahab searched in one direction and Obadiah another. (18:5,6). Obadiah met up with Elijah and said: ""Is this you, my lord Elijah?" At this he said to him: "It is I. Go, say to your lord, 'Here is Elijah.'""  (18:7,8). Obadiah went on to relate what he had done for prophets of Jehovah when Jezebel sought to kill them, how he had "kept supplying them with bread and water". Obadiah acknowledged that the Spirit of Elijah is conveyed by Jehovah to where He chooses.  (18:12,13). Elijah vowed that he would show himself to Ahab.  (18:15).

THE REALITY:  There is now a spiritual "drought" among "Ahab" men responsible for teaching apostasy by a spirit of uncleanness, and those worshipping these ba'als. They are in dire need of the "green grass" of new spiritual "food" and Spirit from Jehovah to save what is left. But in their error "Ahab" men go "alone by one way", but those of the Obadiah class go "by another way" and find Elijah. While "Ahab" men claim those with the Spirit of Elijah have brought ostracism from God upon spiritual "Israel", those with the Spirit of Elijah reject this and place the guilt where it belongs, with "Ahab" men.  Because:

(1) "You men have left the commandments of Jehovah".
(2) "You went following the ba'als".  (18:18).
