A  DELIBERATE  ALLOWANCE  OF  ERROR  FROM  THE
GOVERNING BODY OF JWs AGAINST SPIRITUAL "ISRAEL".

1 TIMOTHY 5:1,2 (NWT):
"Do not severely criticize an older man. To the contrary, entreat him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters with all chasteness."

(1)  If a sixty year old brother in the faith wished to entreat a JW 'older man' or 'elder' on an important matter who was half his age, how would he approach this younger 'brother'? Would he entreat him as he would a father?

This question exposes yet another apostate teaching of certain men who teach that one cannot criticize an 'older man' for any reason. This scripture has been intentionally misinterpreted by unsealed men of the sect of JWs because they wish to preserve the authority they receive on being appointed as 'elders' in congregations of JWs and given the title 'older man'. This title is even given to young men by the governing body of JWs. (See Pages 777, 778 & 779). 1 Timothy 5:1,2 has been misused to falsely substantiate and further the appointment of unsealed men to positions of authority in congregations of JWs.

Thankfully, as we have our Heavenly Father's Word to put matters straight, let us use it to do so, for this scripture reveals that the "older man" referred to has the same context as the "older women" (i.e.) that they should be entreated as one would entreat one's own father or mother, with respect, because they are your elders and have greater experience. It literally means that we should honour these older "brothers" and "sisters" as we would our own fathers and mothers, with humility.  (1 Peter 5:5 NEB).

The Greek Translation of 1 Timothy 5:1,2 reads: "To older man not you should deal blow upon, but be you entreating as father, younger ones as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters in all chasteness." The translation of this scripture by the New World Bible Translation Committee contradicts the Greek Translation enough to allow for this extension of error by authority-seekers among JWs.  (See also 1 Tim 5:1,2 NEB).

Only anointed men, as righteous examples to the flock, can become congregation "elders" and "overseers"; having the spiritual qualifications described in Titus 1:5-9 as respects God's chosen ones. "Stewards" of the household of God are spiritually mature men.

The apostle Paul's words are applicable to these apostate teachers: "Quit sharing with them in the unfruitful works that belong to the darkness, but, rather, even be reproving them."  (From Eph 5:10-12).

Finally, it would be wrong to severely criticize anyone, especially elderly persons. 1 Timothy 5:1,2 embraces more than just criticism. The apostle Peter advocates humility when appealing to another over a matter, and is just the opposite to severe criticism that may provoke the striking of a blow.  (See 1 Tim 5:1,2 Greek T.)
