ARE  WE  RECOMMENDING  MEN
WHO RECOMMEND THEMSELVES?

(3)  Paul, in his second letter to the Corinthians said: "For we do not dare to class ourselves among some or compare ourselves with some who recommend themselves. Certainly they in measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves with themselves have no understanding." (2 Cor 10:12). The men that Paul is describing are men-pleasers; those who indulge the expectations of men and women and in this way recommend themselves. They do this for one reason: Self-glorification     whether it is because they desire the admiration of their family and friends, or inspired by ambition and rivalry go further and seek public recognition and authority over others.

(4)  In their desire for admiration from others, and by making a false show of knowledge to gain prominence, some have deviated from the faith. (1 Tim 6:20,21). Continuing on in their erroneous course, they show indifference to those who refuse to support their pushing ahead presumptuously. (2 John V.9). How did Paul recommend himself and brothers of Christ? To find out, read 2 Corinthians 6:3-10. Paul then, recommended himself and his anointed brothers as ministers of God through their sufferings for the faith, to prove obedient to our Heavenly Father and to seek the advantage of others that they might get saved.  (1 Cor 10:33).

(5)  But today members of JW congregations recommend themselves and others by letters to and from their congregations. They even appoint men whom they have never met, and so are unable to share a faith in common (as members of the "body" of Christ do). And all this being done by proxy! Whereas, the apostles either travelled personally or despatched their anointed brothers to find men who were adequately spiritually qualified to minister the Word of God and be appointed by Holy Spirit as overseers.  (Titus 1:4-9.  Acts 20:28).
