Through reading the following verse I hope to bring some sense of reality to the minds of sham  Christians and the wealthy. For while honouring the dead, and being cramped within their own tender affections, they disregard the starving poor on their very doorstep! It is particularly addressed to those who facilitate a system that is structured to protect those most wealthy, while it disenfranchises those made destitute.

THE LIVING DEAD.

They honoured the dead
At the cenotaph today,
While defenceless souls
Live in cardboard coffins,
Just a few streets away.

The Samaritan provided for a man in need,
But the wealthy pass by, stifling a sigh.
Should we only love those who once loved us,
Or find warm homes to house the poor?
Or let those who are destitute really die?

There they stand, well fed, upright, in silence.
Many in uniform, their thoughts for the dead,
Placing flowers against pillars of lifeless stone.
Where are the Samaritans for those in need?
They're marching by, honouring the dead.
