THE WORK OF "ELIJAH" BEFORE THE DAY OF THE LORD.

Remember the Law of Moses My servant, the rules and precepts which I bade him deliver to all Israel at Horeb. Look, I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. He will reconcile fathers to sons and sons to fathers, lest I come and put the land under a ban to destroy it."  (Mal 4:4-6 NEB).

THE FIRST ELIJAH.
The work that the Lord of Hosts Jehovah commissioned the prophet Elijah to do was to expose the idolatrous teachings of baal and have the priests and prophets of baal executed. Through Elijah, Jehovah prophesied that the house of Ahab would be cut off because Ahab had sold himself to do what was bad in the eyes of Jehovah, and had led Israel into sin. Jehovah  also prophesied that Jezebel would be executed for having egged her husband on. (1 Kings 21:20-26).  That Jehovah has promised to send "the prophet Elijah" before "the great and terrible day of the Lord" signifies that events would unfold just before the "day of the Lord" that are associated with those that transpired when Elijah was on earth.

THE SPIRIT OF "ELIJAH".
Jehovah has bestowed the Spirit of "Elijah" upon certain men to expose the apostate teachings and spirit of uncleanness existing among the "children" of "Ahab" and "Jezebel" disposition occupying the spiritual "land"  of  God today. (Rev 2:20-23). Jehovah has provided His "messenger" with the spiritual knowledge of The  Opened  "Little  Scroll" to "clear up a way" before Him. (Rev 10:8-11.  Mal 3:1). The "rules and precepts" of the Mosaic Law are also a spiritual requirement of God because they are a tutor leading to Christ.  (Gal 3:24).

When the Lord of Hosts and The Christ Michael His "messenger of the covenant" arrive, apostate men and women will be cut off and their idolatrous spirit of uncleanness removed by the Spirit of The Lord's Judgement.  (Mal 3:1.   Zech 13:2.  Isaiah 33:10-14).

THE TRANSFIGURATION.
The transfiguration of The Christ with the resurrected Elijah and Moses not only confirmed they were The Christ's guardian angels while he was on earth, but also prefigured that the Law of Moses and the Spirit of "Elijah" would be used by The Christ to "clear up a way" before the arrival of the Lord of Hosts.  (Matt 17:1  9)  (Mal 3:1 4:4,5).

By the Spirit of "Elijah" those of the "Elijah" class convey the disciplines of Jehovah. Though they may feel they are the only faithful ones left, Jehovah did say to Elijah: "I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all who have not bent the knee to baal." (1 Kings 19:18 NEB). One who has the Spirit of "Elijah" has courage and jealousy for Jehovah, which is made manifest by his performing a spiritual work akin to that of the first Elijah.

But how will the Spirit of "Elijah" reconcile fathers to sons and sons to fathers before the "the great and terrible day of the Lord"? (Mal 4:5).  Some sons of resurrected anointed fathers will receive the Spirit of "Elijah" from their fathers on their death in order to carry out the work of reconciling any as yet unreconciled sons of anointed fathers to the Lord. Each unreconciled one who refused to believe the anointing of their fathers or their spiritual work of warring against the spirit of uncleanness in the spiritual "land" of God, must be reconciled to their Heavenly Father and Creator Jehovah and to their anointed father, lest Jehovah comes and puts His spiritual "land" under a ban to destroy it.  (Mal 4:6).
