SYMBOLIC MEANINGS IN CONNECTION
WITH THE "NEW THINGS" OF ISAIAH Ch.42.

When the spiritually "blind" have their "darkness" removed by God, it is the "veil" of ignorance of their unreconciled spirits that is removed. (42:7 & 16 NEB. 2 Cor 3:15,16). This is so that unbelievers may see and become ashamed, because they will have knowledge of their sins against the holiness of their Lifegiver. They will feel shame because they have been worshipping idols as their gods. These idols include the leaders and false prophets of sectarian "harlot" religions, political leaders of the "wild beast" with subordinate police and military forces to guard and enforce their satanic will, film stars, TV stars, pop idols, and all other idolized celebrities. These admired humans are "dungy idols" installed by satan that he might be worshipped through them. (See Ezek 14:1-11).

To do a redeeming work among mankind, Jehovah will remove all unclean evil spirits keeping unbelievers in "dungeons" of spirit "darkness". (42:7). These demons are corrupted angels inhabiting and manipulating spiritually unclean persons. (Matt 12:43-45). Over these enemies Jehovah will show Himself mightier. (42:13). Then the Lord will guide His freed people by paths they never knew. And "those who take idols for their gods" shall "turn tail in bitter shame." (42:16,17 NEB).

HOW WE KNOW THESE "NEW THINGS" HAVE NOT ALREADY OCCURRED.
After reading Isaiah 42:20 to 43:4, ask yourself: Has God sacrificed Egypt, Ethiopia and allied nations of East Africa as the ransom for His people? Not yet. But in order to give birth to His covenanted people, Jehovah will "awaken zeal" and will lay waste to the very things that self exalted humans ("mountains and hills") and idolized humans ("dungy idols") depend on: "Vegetation" (worshippers) and "water" (spirit). (42:13-15).

Though this work of God may not appear to have begun, Ethiopia and allied lands have already been sent "four families" of destruction: Disease, war, famine and captivity. (Jer 15:3,4). In addition, calamities from God have occurred in one place after another and millions have been killed. Soon Jehovah will "lead blind men on their way" that they may be spiritually enlightened. (42:16 NEB). After having been spiritually plundered by apostates, He will rescue His people whose activity has been as if "lost to sight in dungeons". (42:22 NEB).
