THE SYMBOLIC MEANING OF PROPHESYING
IN  A  "SACKCLOTH"  CONDITION.

"These two have the power to shut up the sky, so that no rain may fall during the time of their prophesying; and they have the power to turn water to blood and to strike the earth at will with every kind of plague."  (Rev 11:6 NEB).

"These two" are witnesses of Almighty God both in heaven and on earth. They are The  Christ  Michael and his Spirit anointed brothers. Some of these anointed ones are still alive on earth today. In total they number 144,000 and are the heavenly "woman" of God. (Rev 7:4.  11:3. 12:14. 21:1,2). The "water" is of the heavenly Spirit "waters" of God; new spiritual understandings symbolically described as "rain", and until His anointed sons were scattered, destined by our Lord for his congregations. (Joel 2:23. 3:2). Such "rain" is for spiritual refreshment and a time of spiritual growth.  (Acts 3:19-21).

While anointed "witnesses" of God prophesy in a "sackcloth" condition they publicly declare denunciations and imminent calamities from God. (Rev 11:3). During this time, "the house of our God has lost its food, lost all its joy and gladness." (Joel 1:16 NEB). It is a time for mourning, for repentance, and for the correction of one's spirit according to the offences revealed. (Joel 1:9-14 NEB). Poured out over such a long period these denunciations seem like a spiritual plague of "locusts".  (Joel 1:4,5 NEB).

As His witnesses did "strike" certain people on earth with the righteous indignation of God, there is urgent need for repentance and reconciliation before the coming wrath of God upon all the earth. (Mal 4:5,6 NEB). It is not a time for rejoicing, but a time for His anointed congregation and the "other sheep which are not of this fold" to "wash their robes clean". (John 10:16. Rev 22:14 NEB). Apostates will be destroyed by the Spirit of the Lord's  Judgement because they refused to accept Spirit correction and continued in apostasy. This is not to be confused with anointed "witnesses" of God who were spiritually "killed" in "Sodom and Egypt".  (Rev 11:7,8).  The aforementioned Spirit "waters" that apostates twisted the intended meanings of, were effectively turned into blood       theirs !

If anyone seeks to physically or spiritually harm anointed "witnesses" of God, words like "fire" pour forth from their mouths in waves of denunciation to consume these enemies. They are a torment to evil spirits active in the lives of rebellious men and women.  (Rev 11:5 NEB).
