GARRULITY.

"When men talk too much, sin is never far away; common sense holds its tongue. A good man's tongue is pure silver;  the heart of the wicked is trash.  The lips of a good man teach many, but fools perish for want of sense."  (Prov 10:19-21 NEB).

"In the abundance of words there does not fail to be transgression, but the one keeping his lips in check is acting discreetly."  (Prov 10:19).

'Few men suspect how much mere talk fritters away spiritual energy,     that which should be spent in action, spends itself in words. Hence, he who restrains that love of talk lays up a fund of spiritual strength.'  (F. W. Robertson).

"A man may think he is religious, but if he has no control over his tongue, he is deceiving himself;  that man's religion is futile."  (James 1:26 NEB).

"The wise man is silent until the right moment, but a swaggering fool is always speaking out of turn."  (Eccus 20:7 NEB).

"Have you beheld a man hasty (1) with his words?  There is more hope for someone stupid than for him."  (Prov 29:20).

"A garrulous (2) man makes himself detested, and one who abuses his position arouses hatred."  (Eccus 20:8 NEB).

(1)
