FOREWORD.

Although a compilation of writings from published authors on spiritual subjects is not new, when errors are found in those writings they serve only to confuse and dispirit the reader. In such cases, scriptures have either been quoted out of context, or inaccurate translations of those scriptures employed to support an author's erroneous view.

In compiling this work, my sole aim has been to enlighten and spiritually upbuild the reader through the use of writings firmly supported by accurate translations of the Holy Scriptures. Although also quoting from the writings of published authors, I do not in any way condone any erroneous teachings they may have written or had published elsewhere.

Where possible, footnotes have been provided to clarify the meaning of certain words, or to give an alternative translation of the scripture quoted. Unless otherwise stated, scriptures are from the New  World Translation. Nevertheless, to emphasize the intended spiritual meaning of certain scriptures, other translations have also been used. Translations used in this companion are as follows:

The New World Translation (NWT).
The New English Bible (NEB).
The Moffatt Translation (Moffatt).

Special thanks go to my father, without whose love and inspiration this book would never have been compiled.

I hope that this spiritual companion will give guidance and spiritual strength to all true Christians everywhere.
