WHEN HE-GOAT FOR
AZAZEL
THE HE-GOAT FOR AZAZEL▼ QUESTION: But
what if one of these he-goats sent out with the sins of the nation confessed
upon it, met with another ritual goat "for Azazel" that had been
sent into the wilderness at a previous annual ceremony? According to the meaning
of the arrangement, what is stated in Isaiah 34:14 NEB applies:
"he-goat shall encounter he-goat." In chapter 34 the prophet
Isaiah describes the Judgement of The Lord God upon all nations of the world ("Edom").
They and their demon angels are forever abandoned by God for their works of
warring against His Spirit creation of members of "Mount Zion",
and are thenceforth consigned to a barren wasteland of unrequited sins as they
come face to face with ("encounter") the same sins they practiced
in previous years. (See Isaiah 34:8 Moffatt & Heb 12:22-24). With the unforgiven
sins of their past coming face to face with unforgiven sins of the present comes
the realization that they are full-grown in wickedness! (2 Esdras 15:5
In the book of Hebrews it clearly teaches: "For since the Law has a shadow of the good things to come, but not the very substance of the things, men can never with the same sacrifices from year to year which they offer continually make those who approach perfect… for it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take sins away." (Heb 10:1 & 4). Because by the "Law of commandments consisting in decrees" of the old covenant "offerings and sacrifices there prescribed cannot give the worshipper inward perfection", we are now under the Spirit Law of The Christ. (Rom 8:1,2 NEB. Eph 2:15. Heb 9:9 NEB). But, "if we wilfully persist in sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins remains: only a terrifying expectation of Judgement and a fierce fire which will consume God's enemies." (Heb 10:26,27 NEB). The Christ's sacrifice does not cover wilful persistent sinning. By the Spirit of the Lord's Judgement the "torrents" of the nations of "Edom" shall be "turned into pitch". "No king shall be acclaimed there, and all its princes shall come to nought." (Isaiah 34:1-15 NEB). 14/3/84. |
