JOEL. (1). "And I will make compensation to you for the years that the locust, the creeping, unwinged locust, and the cockroach and the caterpillar have eaten, My great military force that I have sent among you." (Joel 2:25).
COMPENSATION SOON TO BE REALIZED. After declaring denunciations from the bitter "Little Scroll", their devouring force against apostate teachings raised up against the knowledge of God was felt in the spirits of apostates, so they retaliated. (2 Cor 10:4,5). They warred against it by removing those instrumental in its outpouring. Sadly, they have continued in their apostasy, and are now judged by the "Little Scroll". These Spirit outpourings from Almighty God have sanctified us like "cleansed grain". (2:23,24). We rejoice in the Name of Jehovah our God and are satisfied with His spiritual work in our spirits. (2:26). He has dispersed the warring "northerner" that persecuted us (2:20), and on whose account the "sweet wine" of God has been cut off from the mouths of these apostates. (1:5). Already, anointed sons of spiritual "Judah" receive dreams and visions from Jehovah. (2:28). Soon the Spirit of His Judgement will be poured out upon the Godless, their agitation turning to lamentation as this "devouring fire" increases to a "flooding torrent". (Isaiah 30:27,28. Matt 24:30). People who have consistently despised "the day of small things" will come to the spirit realization that they have lost all hope of reconciliation with God. (Zech 4:10). The outpouring of His Spirit of Judgement, as prophesied through Joel, is part of "the great and fear-inspiring day of Jehovah." (2:31). Sons of "Judah" who were scattered and held spiritually captive will escape and be brought back by Jehovah as survivors. (2:32. 3:1,2).
Jehovah intends to pay back Gentile
enemies for their cruel treatment of spiritual "Judah". (3:4 Compensation for the years of the "locusts", also described in Revelation 11:18 (NEB), will occur while the nations are wrathful. (2:25). "And out of the smoke locusts came forth upon the earth... And they were told to harm no vegetation of the earth nor any green thing nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads." (Rev 9:3,4). COMPENSATE: To recompense; to counterbalance; to make amends for. (Cont. on Page 28/2/86).
