""And it must occur in all the land*," is the utterance of Jehovah, "that two parts in it are what will be cut off and expire; and as for the third part, it will be left remaining in it. And I shall certainly bring the third part through the fire; and I shall actually refine them as in the refining of silver, and examine them as in the examining of gold.""  (Zech 13:8,9).  (* the "land" of spiritual "Israel". Zech 12:1).

The meaning of this prophecy is not that the "two parts" to be cut off are twice as great in number as the "third part", but conveys that the destiny of the "two parts" "in all the land" is distinctly different from that of the "third part".

IN WHAT WAY ARE THE PARTS DIFFERENT?
"Part" 1:  Matthew 24:48-51 conveys that members of the first of the "two parts" will be punished with the greatest severity and will be assigned their part with the hypocrites. This "part" are the "evil slave" who "beat" their fellow slaves before being assigned their part with the hypocrites. Though called to be anointed ones, they are not chosen because they turn to apostasy.  (Matt 22:14 RSV).

"Part" 2:  These also consider themselves to be "in all the land", and like the first "part" are "confirmed drunkards". Of these Revelation 17:5,6 says: ""Babylon the Great, the mother of the harlots and of the disgusting things of the earth." And I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the holy ones and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus." "Babylon the Great" are members of all idolatrous and sectarian religions descending from their place of origin ancient Babylon. These "two parts" share the same destiny:  They will be "cut off and expire".

Members of these sectarian "harlots" are "drunk with the blood of the holy ones and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus." While hypocritically claiming to serve God, "Ahabs" and their "Jezebel" wives have been actively working "in all the land" to make faithful anointed sons of God spiritually inactive. (Rev 2:20-24). "Ahabs" acting as priests in place of these holy ones, "drunk" with "wine" of the "true vine" (The Christ), shove Jehovah's anointed "sheep" to the outside of the "flock". (Rev 3:9. John 15:1-10). But having become "drunk with the blood of the holy ones", they are proven members of the "vine of the earth".  (Rev 14:18 20.  See Pages 803 & 804).

When "Jezebel" women are refined out through implementation of the headship arrangement, and the work of apostate "Ahabs" has been revealed, they and the rest of the "two parts" will be cast out of the spiritual "land" of God. They will be cut off and expire. 1 Kings 21:29 will then have been fulfilled: "I shall not bring the calamity in his own days. In the days of his son I shall bring the calamity upon his house." Realization of their loss, of having been divided off from the "wheat" class through their own hypocrisy, and with no prospect of repentance, will cause them to weep and gnash their teeth. For they will have knowledge of, but lost their opportunity to, everlasting heavenly spirit life.  (Rev 2:20-23).

"Part" 3:  As the described "two parts" are cut off from Jehovah and expire, so those that remain "in all the land" will have been spiritually refined and established as true Christians. The "third part" is made up of 144,000 anointed sealed ones in heaven and an innumerable "great crowd" coming through the "great tribulation" on earth.  (Rev 7:1-15).

Alongside hypocrites already established in such behaviour, those of the "evil slave" class who spiritually "beat" "eleventh-hour" anointed ones are "drunk with the blood of (these) holy ones". In appointing unsealed authority seeking "Ahabs" as 'elders' in Christ's congregations they "eat things sacrificed to idols", and are responsible for the shedding of the blood of holy anointed ones by authorizing unsealed men to usurp, deject and ostracize anointed ones to such an extent as to be described as "confirmed drunkards" in their blood.  (Matt 24:48 51.  Rev 17:5,6.  Rev 2:20-24).
